Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is grateful for the support Phi Iota Alpha has provided UNICEF over the last three years. In 2012, Phi Iota Alpha raised over $18,000 for UNICEF’s work in the field.
Phi Iota Alpha's mission is to develop leaders and create innovative ways to unite the Latino community. The fraternity's roots extend back into the late 19th century and include the first Latino fraternity and the first Latino student organization in the United States. The brotherhood is composed of university and professional men committed to the empowerment of the Latin American community.
Over the last year, the U.S. Fund and Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. have developed a dedicated Latin American fund. Through this fund, members and supporters of Phi Iota Alpha can donate directly to UNICEF's efforts in the Latin America and Caribbean region. With the development of this fund, Phi Iota Alpha now has a full menu of philanthropic activities that reach out to both the Latin American community and the larger international community.
Phi Iota Alpha's current fundraising efforts include:
- Trick or Treat for UNICEF in the Fall
- The Tap Project in the Spring
- Latin American and Caribbean region fundraising year round
"We are proud of our growing partnership with UNICEF. Our chapters have benefited from the domestic fundraising activities such as Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and the Tap Project. We believe the Latin American fund will provide an additional opportunity for our membership to assist in the development of Latin America." said Francisco Lugo, Executive Director of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
"The Fraternity appreciates the strong and growing partnership with UNICEF USA and hopes with our combined efforts, we will be able to see a day when no children are lost to preventable causes." To learn more or donate to the Latin American fund please visit: unicefusa.org/phiota
