Joanie Michaels is a prominent community volunteer and philanthropist. She began her UNICEF involvement as a child, Trick or Treating for UNICEF. She is the UNICEF SE Region’s past board chair and has served on the board for eight years. She has also served on several event committees and has successfully chaired past UNICEF special events. Joanie and her husband Ed are also major donors to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF through the Michaels Family Foundation. She traveled to Honduras on a USF field visit.
Presently, she is also serving on the board for Teach for America, the Board of the Village Green in Cashiers, N.C., as a facilitator for Women’s Community Bible Study, and is a member Habersham Garden Club. In her spare time, she plays golf, enjoys traveling and spending time with in her 4 grandchildren (one of whom served on the UNICEF USA Atlanta Youth Board).
