The UNICEF Experience in Dallas

March 13, 2013
Selwyn Rayzor is the chair of the North Texas Regional Board. On Friday, March 1, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF held the second annual UNICEF Experience at The Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas, Texas. It was also the U.S. Fund’s second major event ever in North Texas. What a great night!

A truly unique evening, the UNICEF Experience showcased UNICEF’s lifesaving work through interactive exhibits on Survival, Development, Protection, and Emergencies, allowing guests to experience what vulnerable children in developing countries have to face just to survive. With 300-plus guests, the event raised more than $285,000, exceeding the first year’s total. The most exciting part of the evening was a one-of-a-kind live auction where guests bid on lifesaving supplies that UNICEF will deploy into the field. Among other items, we sold 52 water pumps, seven motorcycle ambulances, and 142 packets of therapeutic food! The UNICEF Experience was a special opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the world’s children, all without leaving Dallas. As chair of the North Texas Board, it was a privilege for me to see the growth and success of our second annual event.
