Urge Congress to Support the Dream Act of 2017
Friends, please join us in urging Congress to protect children and their families by passing promptly the bipartisan, bicameral “Dream Act.”
Since 2012, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) has provided a measure of hope and stability for thousands of youth who are in this country as a result of choices made by their parents. DACA has allowed nearly 800,000 young people the opportunity to work and study without the threat of deportation. These people are high school and college students; they are parents of young children, homeowners, teachers, and taxpaying workers. Many of these young people have known no home other than the United States.
Without Congressional action soon, the DACA program will end. That could put hundreds of thousands of young people at risk of deportation to a country that they do not know; or cause U.S.-born children to lose their parents to deportation. The separation of children from their parents is a particular concern, as this runs contrary to their best interests.
The only way to protect these young people and families is for Congress to promptly pass the Dream Act, S. 1615/H.R. 3440. The legislation would allow these young people who grew up in the United States to continue to contribute to the country they love, and offer a pathway to citizenship.
Our mission is to stand up for children and families, and that is why we are compelled to mobilize our supporters on this issue. In doing so, we join a wide variety of nonprofit and faith-based organizations that put children first. We all share a belief that every single child deserves a family, an education, and the opportunity to build a future.

Letter to Congress
Subject: Please Support the Dream Act of 2017 to Protect Children and their Families
Dear Member of Congress:
I believe in protecting the dignity of every human being, particularly that of children.
There are nearly 800,000 immigrant youth and young people brought to the United States by their parents who have grown up in our country. They are contributors to our economy, academic standouts in our universities, and leaders in our churches. They have young children of their own. Some have chosen to put their lives on the line to serve in our armed forces.
These young people are now at risk of deportation to countries they have never known, and of having their families torn apart. Allowing this to happen is not in our Nation’s best interests, and runs counter to our American values.
I strongly urge you to cosponsor the bipartisan, bicameral Dream Act of 2017, S. 1615 and H.R. 3440; and push for its immediate passage. The Dream Act is the only way to protect those young people and preserve their families.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to your response.
