2012 Field Visit to the Dominican Republic
Champions voted overwhelmingly to send a portion of 2010 collections—roughly $200,000—to support UNICEF's child protection programs in the Dominican Republic.
In March 2012, Champions Adriann Raschdorf-Nelson (JFK), Andrea Hackim (IMA), Monika Kennel(IMA) , and Evelyn Cordova (JFK) witnessed UNICEF's work for children in Santo Domingo, Mamá Tingó and Santiago.
The group visited a baby-friendly hospital, birth registration programs, an early childhood development center, a mother support program, and even got to meet and be interviewed by UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Jatnna Tavarez.
"Having collected donations for UNICEF's Change for Good program on American Airlines for the last three years, it was truly rewarding to see how UNICEF's work is impacting the lives of children and families in the Dominican Republic" said Andrea Hackim. "I am very proud to be part of the program."
