NEW YORK (August 17, 2017) – UNICEF USA is pleased to announce that Anucha Browne will be joining their Senior Management Team as Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer on November 1, 2017. In this newly created position, she will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and integration of the organization’s current and future strategic plans, and developing and implementing a comprehensive engagement strategy to involve the American public in UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children around the world.

As Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer, Anucha will engage with internal and external partners to develop UNICEF USA’s impact strategy and ensure it is effectively implemented across the organization, at national and regional levels. Additionally, she will build out UNICEF USA’s advocacy strategy to achieve organizational goals, including informing and educating elected officials, community leaders and opinion leaders about UNICEF’s mission to save and protect the world’s most vulnerable children.

“We are thrilled to welcome Anucha to our Senior Management Team,” said Caryl M. Stern, President and CEO of UNICEF USA. “As a dynamic leader with a proven track record of driving business results and a demonstrated commitment to working with children, women and communities, Anucha brings valuable experience to the newly created Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer position. We look forward to having her on board as we continue our work to engage all Americans to put children first.”

Anucha will join UNICEF USA from the National Collegiate Athletic Association, where she has served as the Vice President of Women’s Basketball Championships since 2012. Prior to that, she was the Senior Woman Administrator & Senior Associate Athletic Director at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and Senior Vice President of Marketing & Business Operations for the New York Knicks & Madison Square Garden.

“We have witnessed tremendous growth in the sport of women’s basketball and the championships and I will depart knowing that the game is in a great place,” said Browne. “Women's basketball changed my life. To be in a position to lead it has been an honor. I'm grateful and appreciate the NCAA and President Mark Emmert for providing me the opportunity to work in this space and truly make a difference. I also appreciate the many stakeholders that we have partnered with over the past five years to raise the bar on the student-athlete experience. That being said, I am thankful and excited to soon be joining the UNICEF USA family. Supporting the world's most vulnerable children is paramount and I have long had a passion for the renowned humanitarian work of UNICEF. An opportunity to impact the movement for children is a dream come true and I'm truly humbled. I look forward to these new challenges.”
