Marium
Marium is a student at Harvard College, hoping to study Anthropology and Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. This is her second year on the National Youth Council. Coming from a Pakistani background and living on the Frontera between the United States and Mexico, she has grown up with a passion for storytelling and advocacy. This drives her to work as an independent journalist covering education, social justice, and culture. As a council member, Marium mobilized around child rights by; presenting at UNICEF USA’s annual Joint Boards Convening, helping to launch her hometown as a Child-Friendly City, working with the UNICEF USA research team on the annual Harris Poll, and creating fun social media content. Before working with UNICEF USA, Marium advocated for justice with local organizations, including a regional community farm, and as a senior attorney in her Texas hometown’s Municipal Teen Court. For fun, Marium loves to write poetry, create portrait art, and cook. She hopes that working with UNICEF USA can uplift marginalized communities and shape a better future for the world.
