Marium
Marium is a high school junior from Texas. Coming from a Pakistani background and living on the Frontera between the United States and Mexico, she grew up around diverse cultural backgrounds, sparking her love for storytelling and activism. She has worked with local and national magazines, nonprofits, anthologies, campaigns and organizations that protect social justice. Before working with UNICEF USA for children's rights, she worked as an independent journalist covering students' rights in stories about gun violence, discrimination, the criminal justice system, curricula and censorship. She has also advocated for youth through serving as a lawyer and juror at the El Paso Municipal Teen Court Program, providing restorative justice to teens across her city. Beyond advocacy, she enjoys creating art, poetry, baking and gardening. She hopes that working with UNICEF USA can uplift marginalized communities and shape a better future for the world.
