Mahmoud

Mahmoud is from Minnesota, and is of Eritrean heritage. This is his second year on the National Youth Council. He is a student at Duke University and is planning to declare majors in Economics and Public Policy. Mahmoud is passionate about law, policy, and developmental economics, and aims to bridge his studies with human rights and global issues. He spent the past year conducting policy research and working as an undergraduate fellow in his school's Middle Eastern Studies department, where he met with leaders from across the world and politicians working on issues in the Middle East. As a National Youth Council member, he spent 2025–2026 working with UNICEF clubs, advocating for children's rights, and lobbying legislators in Washington, D.C. He is excited for what's to come this year on the council.
