Statement on 2020 U.S. Presidential Election

UNICEF USA congratulates President-elect Joe Biden on his election as 46th President of the United States, as well as Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on her historic accomplishment as the first woman, Black woman and person of South Asian descent to be elected Vice President of the United States.

We are fortunate to live in a nation with strong democratic processes and peaceful transitions of power.  Our sincere thanks and gratitude go out to all those who make our vibrant democracy work.

One thing hasn’t changed: children all over the world, including in the United States, still face enormous challenges, even more so with COVID-19. UNICEF USA will continue to engage with policymakers across party lines to promote child rights and child well-being.  Our work to help build a better world for children has never been more important.

HOW TO HELP

There are many ways to make a difference

War, famine, poverty, natural disasters — threats to the world's children keep coming. But UNICEF won't stop working to keep children healthy and safe.

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories — more places than any other children's organization. UNICEF has the world's largest humanitarian warehouse and, when disaster strikes, can get supplies almost anywhere within 72 hours. Constantly innovating, always advocating for a better world for children, UNICEF works to ensure that every child can grow up healthy, educated, protected and respected.
