Fracht Group North America and UNICEF USA’s partnership invests in the UNICEF Global Humanitarian Thematic Fund (GHTF). Through this support, UNICEF provides lifesaving relief and protection for children in emergencies via rapid response times, meeting the needs of children in hard-to-reach areas and proactive planning for future crises.

Children across the globe are facing unprecedented crises and emergencies

Around the world, children caught in conflict, displacement, public health emergencies and disaster continue to face unprecedented hardship. Their lives are being shaped by forces far beyond their control: violence, the threat of famine, intensifying climate shocks and the widespread collapse of essential services. These crises are unfolding at a time of significant cuts to humanitarian funding, leaving fewer resources to meet children’s urgent needs. Shortfalls in critical life-saving programs are forcing UNICEF frontline teams to make impossible decisions: prioritizing some interventions over others, reducing the frequency of services or directing limited supplies to certain areas while leaving other children without support.

In 2026 alone, an estimated 200 million children will require humanitarian assistance across 133 countries and territories. Yet humanitarian funding often concentrates on the highest profile emergencies, leaving a disproportionate number of crises forgotten and underfunded.

Despite an increasingly insecure and volatile environment, UNICEF remains committed to upholding the mission of reaching every child. Through support from partners like Fracht, UNICEF is working to provide lifesaving support in the hardest hit contexts and ensure the most marginalized and vulnerable children are protected from disease, malnutrition, violence, exploitation and loss of learning.

Accelerating emergency preparedness and lifesaving assistance

Fracht's support of the Global Humanitarian Thematic Fund (GHTF) enables UNICEF to make the greatest impact for children affected by emergencies and crises around the world. Global humanitarian thematic funding is one of the best mechanisms to save children's lives, protect children's rights and secure a healthier and safer future for children and their communities.

At Fracht, we witness every day how interconnected our world truly is. While our business is built on moving goods across borders, our values are rooted in supporting people. As we celebrate 70 years of global operations, we believe it's equally important to invest in the future of the communities we serve. Through our partnership with UNICEF USA, we're using our brand to stand for something bigger than our business—supporting an organization that is creating meaningful, lasting change in the lives of children and families around the world.

Designed to alleviate suffering before, during and after emergencies, the GHTF is a pooled, flexible multi-year fund that enables swift and strategic responses by UNICEF to humanitarian crises. Through the GHTF, UNICEF provides immediate lifesaving assistance to children with the greatest need, quickly releasing funds for sudden-onset emergencies. When it is difficult to attract international attention for forgotten and underfunded crises, the GHTF provides the flexible funding UNICEF needs to address urgent gaps not covered by other funding sources, enabling a more equitable humanitarian response wherever and whenever children need support. This flexibility allows UNICEF to deliver nutrition, safe water, health care, education, child protection and other essential services, while preparing for future shocks.

Through contributions to the GHTF, partners like Fracht also help UNICEF deliver a more cost-effective response: every $1 invested in preparedness generates an average savings of $4 in the next emergency and speeds up operations by more than 12 days. As a result, UNICEF can reach children faster and maximize its impact with limited resources, including in hard-to-reach communities.

Together, through their support of the UNICEF Global Humanitarian Thematic Fund, Fracht and UNICEF USA are helping accelerate emergency preparedness and interventions that create lasting impact for children today and into the future.
