Dr. Khurana is a board certified immunologist, allergist and rheumatologist. She completed the highly competitive six-year medical program at University of Missouri-Kansas City, went on to do her internal medicine residency at University of Texas-Medical Branch and then did a dual fellowship in immunology, allergy and rheumatology at Baylor College of Medicine. She stayed on as attending physician and assistant professor at Baylor COM and Texas A&M HSC. She was owner and physician in private practice at Allergy and Rheumatology Specialists of Houston. 

She has since dedicated her career to the nonprofit sector. She now serves on International Council for UNICEF and Marketing and Philanthropy Committee for UNICEF USA, and was a past chair of the Southwest Regional Board for UNICEF USA. She is also a past co-chair of the UNICEF Gala in NYC. She has attended program visits in Guinea, focused on clean water solutions; Udaipur, India on child protection and Pucallpa, Peru on gender equity and adolescent education.

She sits on the Academic Institution Board of the Houston Methodist Hospital System as well as the Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital Board, where she founded the Swadesh Khurana Endowed Fellowship and Balwant Khurana Neuroscience Center. 

She is a Governing Director and on the Executive Committee of the Houston Symphony while serving as the Chair of Education and Community Engagement.

She also serves the boards of American Cancer Society, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Pratham USA and St. Francis Episcopal School.
