A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Bohol Island in the central Visayas region of the Philippines on October 15, 2013, killing hundreds of people and destroying thousands of homes. Some 3 million people were affected, and many were doubly impacted by Super Typhoon Haiyan.

In response, UNICEF and its partners mounted a large-scale emergency effort, providing clean water and medical supplies and constructing temporary learning spaces for thousands of children.
