Working with NGOs — Innovative Alliances to Save Children's Lives

No single organization can take on the task of saving children in the developing world from war, disease and hunger. Innovative alliances are critical. Today more than ever, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society partnerships are influencing action for children. UNICEF recognizes the importance of NGO activism for children and places great emphasis on such partnerships in helping to create a world fit for children.

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF works with NGOs and civil society organizations that are headquartered in the U.S. and are interested in supporting UNICEF’s work through education, advocacy, and fundraising. These groups recognize that children are the future.  Partnering with UNICEF enables them to reach millions of children in need around the world.  Our partners typically fall into the following categories:

  • International Service-Based Organizations
  • Faith-Based Organizations
  • Diaspora Organizations
  • Professional and Women’s Organizations, including unions and associations
  • U.S.-Based Technical Organizations, which may provide direct field services
  • Others

Please see our partners for a list of our lead NGO donors.

While UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs, and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF is a non-profit organization established to raise funds and awareness in the United States for UNICEF’s work.  The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is one of 36 national committees established in industrialized countries to support UNICEF’s work.  The U.S. Fund does not fulfill program requirements at the field level; rather, programming and service delivery is part of UNICEF’s mission.

NGOs based abroad and seeking to partner with UNICEF to implement programs at the field-level should direct inquiries to the UNICEF country offices.  Visit www.unicef.org for a complete list of country offices.

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is grateful to all its NGO partners.  Their members’ hard work and dedication are helping to save and transform young lives worldwide.
