MALI: A woman is immunized against tetanus in Benkene, a remote village, by a traditional birth attendant trained to promote and administer vaccinations against the disease.
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF and Pampers are pleased to announce the launch of the “One Pack = One Vaccine” international initiative to protect women and babies from preventable disease. The campaign, which began two years ago in the UK and expanded in 2007 to other countries in Western Europe and Japan, has helped provide UNICEF with funding for more than 25 million lifesaving tetanus vaccines.
For every specially-marked pack of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive, Swaddlers, Cruisers, and Easy Ups diapers and Pampers Sensitive, Swipers, and Clean ‘n Go wipes purchased in the U.S. and Canada from April 7 through August 31, 2008, the Pampers brand will donate 5¢ to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to provide one tetanus vaccine to a woman in the developing world.* The goal for the U.S. campaign is 45 million vaccines, which would bring the total global donations to more than 70 million vaccines.
Actress and new mother Salma Hayek has been named supporter of the Pampers/UNICEF program.
