Change for Good®

Change for Good is an innovative partnership between UNICEF and the international airline industry. Established in 1987, it is one of UNICEF's best-known and longest-running partnerships. Currently nine international airlines support the Change for Good program. Thanks to the generous support of customers and participating airlines, the global Change for Good program has generated more than $116 million that UNICEF has used to provide a healthier, happier future for millions of children.

2013 UNICEF Field Visit to Brazil

Each year, Champions for Children have the opportunity to vote on a UNICEF project to support with a portion of funds collected through Change for Good. In 2012, Champions for Children voted to direct roughly $200,000 of the 2011 collections to support a youth-led mapping initiative in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From April 10-13, 2013, four flight attendant Champions for Children participated in a UNICEF field visit to Brazil where they saw this program first-hand and witnessed Change for Good collections in action.

Change for Good on American Airlines Participated in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF for the Fourth Consecutive Year

TOT boxes 2012

As America's longest running volunteer initiative, it was only fitting that Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF join forces with Change for Good on American Airlines, a volunteer-based effort. For the fourth consecutive year, the two programs collaborated to reduce the number of preventable childhood deaths to zero and to further the cause of children everywhere.

On Oct. 24-31, 2012, American Airlines employee volunteers, known as Champions for Children, carried Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection boxes to gather donations of foreign and domestic currency from customers on selected international American Airlines flights. In addition, throughout the month of October, travelers were able to drop off their donations in Halloween-themed boxes at Admirals Club lounges and Flagship Lounges worldwide. American Airlines employees also had the opportunity to participate in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF through various workplace activities throughout the month.
