Bill Plybon, Vice Chair

 

Bill Plybon is Counsel with Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta, Georgia.   Bill focuses his practice on providing legal advice and management expertise to public companies and general counsel.  From 2007 to 2014, he was vice president, secretary and deputy general counsel of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. (CCE) as corporate secretary, Bill was responsible for board relations and corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance matters, disclosure, securities compliance, internal investigations and litigation.  Before becoming secretary, Bill was vice president, director of litigation at CCE.  In this role, he was responsible for litigation and claims management, with focus on class actions, labor and employment law, intellectual property, and multi-party commercial disputes.  Prior to joining CCE in 2004, he was an equity partner in Alston & Bird’s Litigation and Trial Practice Group.

Bill received a BS in Accounting from the University of Kansas in 1982 and a law degree from Emory University in 1986.  He has been a member of the Southeast Region Board of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF since 2013.  He is also a member of the Boards of Trustees of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia and LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia.  In addition to his board and community service, Bill enjoys traveling with his family and friends, reading, and the occasional round of golf.

Bill is married to Suzanne, a senior partner in the Atlanta law firm Arnall Golden Gregory LLP.  Their daughter, Kristen, 27, is a graduate of Wake Forest University and will obtain her law degree from Emory University in May.  Their son, Robert, 22, graduated from Duke University and in June will complete his Masters in Environmental Engineering at Stanford University.
