After the temporary loss of our New York headquarters in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF is determined to continue fighting for the world’s children. “The U.S. Fund for UNICEF was built to deal with emergencies,” Caryl M. Stern, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s President and C.E.O., told The New York Times. “When something goes wrong anywhere in the world, we turn up the volume. Our teams flood into the office and we work 24/7 to get help to the world’s children when they need us most. "This time, the flood was on us—but when Hurricane Sandy shut down our offices in New York, our team didn’t miss a beat.” The U.S. Fund for UNICEF has been operating at full capacity since the storm. Within two days of the hurricane, almost 50 staffers had moved into emergency offices in northern Manhattan. Other employees are working from home or from other temporary spaces. Our six regional offices around the country are all up and running. We wish everyone who has been affected by Sandy a speedy and safe recovery.
