UNICEF Tap Project City Coordinators get started

Mark your calendars! World Water Week is from March 19-25, 2012! Which means that for the next several months I’ll be working on the UNICEF Tap Project, which helps raise awareness of the world water crisis and raise funds for UNICEF water and sanitation programs around the world.
Mark your calendars! World Water Week is from March 19-25, 2012! Which means that for the next several months I’ll be working on the UNICEF Tap Project, which helps raise awareness of the world water crisis and raise funds for UNICEF water and sanitation programs around the world. I am also a member of Public Allies, a program within the AmeriCorps. Public Allies aim to create, improve and expand services that address diverse issues such as youth development, education, public health, economic development, the arts and the environment.

2012 Tap Project city coordinators

Last month the Volunteer and Community Partnerships team welcomed the 2012 UNICEF Tap Project City Coordinators to an orientation session here in New York.  Twenty-seven City Coordinators from Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City and Washington D.C. all gathered for an amazing informative weekend. The orientation was a great opportunity for the coordinators to learn more about UNICEF, global water issues and their roles in the campaign in their respective cities.

It also gave me an opportunity to dive a little deeper into the "nuts and bolts" of the UNICEF Tap Project. I loved the energy of the city coordinators as we discussed effective ways to reach our communities!  For the next few months, the City Coordinators will mobilize their cities, plan launch events, recruit volunteers and restaurants on behalf of the UNICEF Tap Project Campaign. I will be assisting and supporting volunteers not living within the City Coordinators’ reach and making sure  that all volunteers are properly prepared to advocate, educate and fundraise on behalf of the UNICEF Tap Project.  The 2012 City Coordinators are an amazing group and I can’t wait to make this campaign better than ever!
