On May 26, 2015, we welcomed Deepak Chopra, MD, world-renowned pioneer of mind-body medicine, author and philanthropist as the keynote presenter at the Saving Children: A Speakers Series luncheon held at The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. Introduced by his daughter, UNICEF Supporter Mallika Chopra and granddaughter, UNICEF Young Ambassador Tara Mandal, Dr. Chopra delivered a fascinating and poignant address on living a life of purpose and philanthropy.
As a leading scholar and voice for alternative medicine that connects the mind and the body, Dr. Chopra shared his belief that happiness and fulfillment is attained when one gives back to the world; personal and societal strength comes from giving care and love to others. Afterward, Dr. Chopra participated in a lively Question & Answer session with the audience, touching on a variety of topics including: the pillars of personal wellbeing; the interconnectedness of people and societies; approach to terrorism; achievement of world peace; and, expectations for the next generation.
A common theme throughout, Dr. Chopra expressed the exceptional need to support international humanitarian emergencies impacting children, such as the global malnutrition crisis and the devastating earthquakes that recently hit Kathmandu in Nepal and the surrounding region.
