Soraiya Thura: UNICEF at VCU Spotlight Banquet

The UNICEF Campus Initiative club at Virginia Commonwealth University held a Spotlight Banquet on October 5, 2012 to raise awareness and funds for children suffering from malnutrition in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

The UNICEF at VCU Spotlight Banquet took place on Friday, October 5, 2012, in the Commonwealth Ballroom on the Virginia Commonwealth University campus.

Over 100 VCU students came out to support the UNICEF club, donating $10 each to attend the event.

Global Citizenship Fellow Aarti Singh traveled from Washington D.C. to the event and gave a presentation.

Performances were given by the Nepali Student Association, Pakistani Student Association, African Student Union, and the Ethiopian Student Union.

A full-course meal was donated by Noorani Kabob House. UNICEF at VCU raised over $1,000 for UNICEF's work to end child malnutrition around the world.
