The New York Foundling to Help Children of the Philippines on #GivingTuesday

The New York Foundling, one of the leading children's charities in NYC, and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF have joined forces during this year's #GivingTuesday holiday fundraising campaign to help children in the Philippines affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan.

In the spirit of giving, The New York Foundling will donate all funds raised on Dec. 3, #GivingTuesday, to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday encourages shoppers to engage in charitable activities and spend with a purpose.

More than five million children have been affected by the natural disaster in the Philippines, and they are vulnerable not only to disease, but also to trafficking, child labor and violence. As a New York organization with many Filipino staff and over a century of dedication to empowering and safeguarding children and families in need, The New York Foundling is committed to making a difference in the lives of children in the Philippines.

UNICEF is focused on lifesaving interventions — providing essential medicines, nutrition supplies, safe water and hygiene supplies to children and families. UNICEF is helping to protect unaccompanied children and reunite them with their families, and it has set up spaces where children can learn, play and receive psychosocial support to help restore a sense of normalcy.

The message that many New Yorkers will send on Tuesday by collectively channeling their support for the Philippines through the New York Foundling is truly inspiring. UNICEF is there for the children of the Philippines. The New York Foundling is there for the children of the Philippines. Are you?
