Now that's not because Laker Big Man Pau Gasol is an avid supporter (he is!), or because Warrior's rock Charlie Bell Trick-or-Treats for UNICEF (he most certainly does - see photo!) NBA has been a close friend of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF for over a decade, working together on initiatives like NBA's Basketball without Borders - which U.S. Fund for UNICEF President Caryl Stern was fortunate to see firsthand this summer - and to provide emergency relief after the 2004 East Asian Tsunami and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake.

Sports Business Journal recently featured an article on NBA Cares' five years of good works, in which U.S. Fund for UNICEF President Caryl Stern spoke to NBA Cares commitment to social responsibility "The NBA above all other leagues has been philanthropic in a strategic way... There is a dedicated strategy on how they support us on a number of different levels. It is not just writing a check. They want to see results, and I am in touch with the NBA on almost a weekly basis."
So Happy Birthday, NBA Cares, and much love and gratitude from the folks at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF on behalf of the world's children. Keep on doing what you're doing: the world is a better place for it!
