This Holiday Season, Give Back to Children With UNICEF Market Gifts

Giving to those in need during the holidays is just as important as giving to friends and loved ones. Shopping UNICEF Market is a great way to discover unique, handmade gifts that support two very meaningful causes — and still cross items off your holiday list.

UNICEF Market connects artisans to a global clientele while helping them build sustainable businesses that can support their families and their art. At the same time, proceeds from every UNICEF Market purchase go toward helping to fund UNICEF's work to save and protect the world’s most vulnerable children.

In October, KTLA 5 news anchor Megan Henderson saw UNICEF Market’s powerful impact firsthand when she traveled to Guatemala with UNICEF USA to meet some of the talented artisans and the moms and kids UNICEF helps.

Group of Young Adults

The Jalapa Girls Jewelsmiths come from small Guatemalan towns and agricultural communities, where girls have a particularly difficult time finding work. But thanks to UNICEF Market, their futures are now in their own hands — and secure.

Two Women Working at a Loom

During her visit to the Nu'Kem Association of Textile Artisans, Megan learned how to operate a backstrap loom. The collective's weavers come from remote areas where women are expected to stay at home and in the kitchen. But now with their livelihoods secure, they have a new lease on life. “We feel so proud to be able to go out to sell,” says Yolanda. “Our dream is to find new markets so that we can, in turn, offer more jobs to the women weavers of our region."

Ride along with Megan, a newly minted UNICEF Official Supporter, to learn more about the Jalapa Girl Jewelsmiths and the Nu'Kem Textile Artisans and discover what a big difference you can make in so many lives by shopping for good this holiday season.
