Celebrate World Polio Day 2014

Join Rotary for a live-streamed global status update on the fight to end polio!

Tune in 6:30pm (CDT) / 7:30pm (EDT) on Friday, October 24.

On October 24 - World Polio Day – Rotary is raising awareness about the fight to end polio, the challenges that remain, and how private citizens, corporations, and non-profits can join in the historic final push.

During the 26-year effort to eradicate polio, there have been between 10-13 million childhood polio infections prevented and 1.5 million childhood deaths averted. The number of cases of polio has declined from 350,000 in 1988 to just 243* so far in 2014! And today, all but three countries (Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan) have eliminated polio within their borders.

(*as of October 14, 2014).

The world has never been in a better position to end polio.

On October 24th, join Rotary for a live-streamed global status update on the fight to end polio. Guests will include Global Polio Eradication Initiative partners, celebrity ambassadors, polio survivors and special guests. Tune in at 6:30pm (CDT) / 7:30pm (EDT) to watch the live event.
