NEW YORK (May 14, 2015) — The U.S. Fund for UNICEF today announced the appointment of Vince Hemmer as Chairman of the Board, Gary Cohen as Vice Chair of the Board, and David Sable as a Board Director.

Hemmer previously served as a Board Member and Board Chair of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s Midwest Regional Board prior to joining the National Board in 2008.

Hemmer is the Founder and Managing Director of private investment firm Silver Pine Partners. Previously, he was a Principal at GTCR, a Chicago-based private equity firm. Hemmer holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, studied at the London School of Economics, and graduated with honors as a Benjamin Franklin Scholar from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Cohen has served on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF since 2006. He is the Executive Vice President and President of Global Health and Development at BD (Becton, Dickinson & Co). He is also acting CEO of GBCHealth and a Board Director of the CDC Foundation, the Perrigo Company, and the Accordia Global Health Foundation. He serves as Vice Chair of the UN Special Envoy’s Office for Financing the Health-Related MDGs and recently served on the UN Commission on Life Saving Commodities for Women and Children.

Cohen founded Together for Girls, a partnership of five UN agencies led by UNICEF, the CDC, U.S. Department of State, Government of Canada and others to end violence against children, particularly sexual violence against girls. He is a member of the UN Secretary General’s Network of Engaged Men Leaders, associated with the UNITE campaign to end violence against women and girls. He holds BA and MBA degrees from Rutgers and previously served on the University’s Board of Trustees.

David Sable has been named National Board Director. Sable has served as Chair of U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s New York Regional Board since 2013 and will remain a member of the New York Board.

Sable is the Global CEO of Y&R, one of the world’s largest marketing communications networks. He first worked at Y&R in 1976 and has held senior roles in other Y&R family companies, including Burson-Marsteller, Cohn & Wolfe, as well as Wunderman, where he helped transform the agency into one of the world’s leading digital networks. An early digital entrepreneur, David is frequently tapped for his marketing and digital expertise around the world.

In addition to being a U.S. Fund for UNICEF National Board Member, Sable is a director of the Advertising Council, and a member of the Cultural Advisory Committee of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. In 2013, Fast Company named him one of the 10 Most Generous Marketing Geniuses.
