Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began 69 years ago as a way to help kids still affected
by World War II. Since then, millions of children across the United States have
gone door to door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out,
“Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!” The annual tradition of Kids Helping Kids® - involving
donations big and small - has helped to raise more than $175 million since 1950.

Since 1950, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF funds have helped save and improve children's lives around the world.
UNICEF
works in 190 countries and reaches millions of children with immunizations, education, health care, nutrition,
safe
water and sanitation, emergency relief, and more — with the help of your support!
The 2019 campaign runs from September 1, 2019 to October 31, 2019. But you can
help save and protect children
any
time of the year by donating to UNICEF right now! Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF funds submitted after June 30, 2020
will
be applied to the next year’s campaign.
UNICEF reaches millions of children in over 190 countries and territories by supporting broad-based programs
and
projects. UNICEF operates at the highest levels of government to help shape national agendas for children while
supporting program implementation in the field. This approach gives UNICEF unique insights into how best to save
and
protect the world’s children, but it doesn’t allow us to fund a specific person, project, school or country.
While UNICEF appreciates your spirit of giving, we are only able to accept monetary donations. Cash can make a
much stronger impact and save more lives because it:
- Allows disaster relief professionals to procure exactly what is needed;
- Is much more efficient and cost-effective to administer;
- Can pay for relief supplies and programs located nearer to the affected area because transport costs can
outweigh
the value of materials donated;
- Supports the economy of the region affected, providing employment and income; and
- Ensures culturally, dietary and environmentally appropriate giving.

Kiwanis International and UNICEF joined forces to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) worldwide.
This historic initiative, called The Eliminate Project, aims to put an end to this cruel, centuries-old disease.
It
will also help pave the way for the delivery of other lifesaving services, such as clean water, nutrition and
other
vaccines. UNICEF USA and Kiwanis International are working to raise $110 million to provide women with
lifesaving
vaccines to protect them and their future newborns. For more information, please visit TheEliminateProject.org.
- Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has empowered generations to make lasting change in their global community by
collecting
donations on Halloween to help save and protect children.
- Key Club International, a student-led service leadership program of Kiwanis International, is the oldest and
largest service program for high school students. Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF since 1994,
raising
over $7 million.
- Combating iodine deficiency worldwide and HIV and AIDS in Kenya and Swaziland are just some of the programs
Key
Club has supported.
- Since 2011, Key Club’s Trick-or-Treat donations have funded The Eliminate Project, which supports the
elimination
of maternal and neonatal tetanus globally. For more information, visit TheEliminateProject.org or

Participate in our FREE program, UNICEF Kid Power!
UNICEF Kid Power
gives kids the power to save lives by
connecting their everyday activity to real-world impact. Around the world, UNICEF empowers young people to
create
solutions to real-world problems. Across the United States, UNICEF Kid Power gives this same opportunity to
kids,
empowering them to positively impact their communities. By getting active with UNICEF Kid Power, kids unlock
therapeutic food that UNICEF delivers to severely malnourished children. The more kids move, the more lives they
save. By participating in hands-on Kid Power experiences, kids learn about the world around them and realize
their
actions have the power to make a difference.

to the name and address that appears on the check.
Yes. Have the donor text TOT to UNICEF (864233) to make a $5 donation.
If your child collects cash, and you make a donation of equivalent value, you will be able to deduct the amount
from your taxes. Any donor who writes a check will receive a receipt acknowledging the deductible amount. If you
are
remitting donations on behalf of an organization the recognition will be for the organization and not the
individual.
Practicing with your kids is a great way to get them to learn how to collect donations while trick-or-treating
(you might even give them their first donation!). Parents can help prepare kids by asking them questions about
why
they want to help other children. Parents can also prepare kids that it’s okay if the person they ask to donate
says
no. Children should smile and thank the person, whether the person donates or not.
