Dr. Dora Ngwang
Dr. Dora Ngwang is a double-boarded pediatric anesthesiologist and adult anesthesiologist in Atlanta, Georgia. She is also the Co-Founder and CEO of The Soma Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating access to educational resources and opportunities for youth in underserved communities worldwide.
Dr. Ngwang is truly a global citizen. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At the young age of four years old, she and her family moved to Cameroon, West Africa where she was raised and spent the majority of her youth. She moved back to the United States in high school. Based on her experience, both in Africa and in the United States, Dr. Ngwang has come to know and appreciate the importance of education, addressing socioeconomic disparities, and giving back.
Dr. Ngwang’s interest in UNICEF began when she was very young. She experienced firsthand the work and impact UNICEF has on the lives of youth in underserved communities worldwide. Influenced by her past experiences, Dr. Ngwang believes in a life of giving back and serving. Working with UNICEF and giving back has always been a person goal of hers.
Dr. Ngwang earned her undergraduate degree from University of Louisville, her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine (Class of 2012), and she completed her medical training and pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Case Western in Cleveland, Ohio.
