Jennifer Roberti Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications
U.S. Fund for UNICEF
Jennifer started her career as a corporate historian at The History Factory in Washington, DC, and quickly came to realize that understanding the origins of a company can help inform current branding and communications strategy. Subsequently, Jennifer moved to New York to work on Madison Avenue – historically the epicenter of American Advertising. After 9 years at Y&R New York, working on global brands such as Colgate, Philip Morris and SONY, Africa and MTN came calling.
Jennifer spent the last 10 years at MTN, and most recently held the position of Executive: Group Marketing, leading their global brand, sponsorship, communications, research and customer experience initiatives. During her time with MTN, the company grew from 16 million subscribers in 6 countries to 235 million subscribers in 22 countries. MTN also received numerous accolades for their brand including being named as the first African brand on the Millward Brown BrandZ Top 100 Global Brands. Working for one of the most exciting companies to come out of a developing market and building Africa’s most valuable and loved brand provided Jennifer an opportunity to experience working in and with most of MTN’s key markets including Nigeria, Ghana, Syria, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Botswana, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, and Yemen.
Jennifer received a BA in History from The University of Chicago and continues to be an avid reader of books on American History. When she is not reading a great book, she loves to cook, knit, travel and spend as much time as possible with her husband and two year old daughter.
