Peter Wingfield Fan Club
The purpose of the Peter Wingfield Fan Club has always been to foster friendship through a common interest in the career and acting projects of Peter Wingfield (Highlander, X-Men United, Riverworld, 10,000 Days, etc.).
The club also spearheads fundraisers to support the Wingfield family's selected charity, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Most recently, the club was a corporate sponsor for the inaugural Team UNICEF's participation in the 2009 ING New York Marathon.
With the birth of Peter and Carolyn's son, Edan, the club's fundraising initiative was designated Project Edan. Funds raised for Project Edan were donated initially to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in support of UNICEF's global programs for orphans and children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. Support has since shifted to UNICEF's Believe in Zero campaign—an initiative that encompasses programs providing help for vulnerable children around the world. No corner of the globe is too remote for UNICEF staff to get children the basics for survival.
In supporting the Believe in Zero campaign, the Peter Wingfield Fan Club continues to advocate passionately for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF's effort to reduce child mortality and reach a day when the number of children who die from an easily preventable cause is zero. Ongoing individual contributions, auctions and funds raised at club conventions have totaled over $143,000 since 2003.
