Abby Herzig, a clinical psychologist, has been treating children, adolescents, and adults as well as mothers and their babies together, in private practice in New York City for the last ten years.
Abby began working towards her passion for helping children during her doctoral training in Washington DC, where she worked with children in very impoverished and underserved areas as well as in hospitals and therapeutic schools treating kids who fell along the mental health spectrum, including those with severe mood and psychotic disorders.
She received her undergraduate degree from McGill University and her doctorate in clinical psychology from George Washington University. She is a graduate of Columbia University’s post-doctoral, Parent-Infant-Program and is currently completing a second post-doctoral degree in Child and Adult Psychoanalysis at the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education, NYU School of Medicine.
Abby is a member of the Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership for Women and serves on the Board of Directors of Eyescape, a pharmaceutical developmental company associated with The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University and the National Institute of Health. Recently, Abby created Above the Fold, a holding company created to manage private equity and philanthropic endeavors, including projects for UNICEF as well as a company, which will develop products for children suffering from food allergies.
Abby recently returned from a life-changing UNICEF field trip to Vietnam and is currently working with UNICEF to create campaigns aimed at engaging families and young children to be more philanthropic and globally aware.
Professional endeavours aside, Abby is an art and music fanatic and recently moved from Brooklyn, New York to Toronto, Canada with her husband, Josh Kornberg, and their three delicious children, Kurt, Olivier, and Maude. She considers both Toronto and New York home.
