Horn of Africa Emergency Relief

When disaster struck in the Horn of Africa in the form of widespread famine, Next Generation pulled resources together and raised $150,000 for UNICEF's emergency relief efforts. This crisis was caused by a combination of factors including prolonged drought, rapidly increasing food prices and the escalating conflict in Somalia. By September 2011, more than 13 million people were in need of humanitarian assistance.UNICEF was able to provide over 31,000 tons of therapeutic food, immunizations for 1.5 million children, and improved preventative measures by implementing a Health Extension program.
