U.S. Fund for UNICEF Partners with IMUNA Conferences

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is proud to call the International Model United Nations Association (IMUNA) a new partner organization. Over the course of the last year, UNICEF has built relationships with each of the 3 IMUNA conferences. We had the opportunity to speak with each conference’s secretariat, and the positive feedback we received was incredibly encouraging. Here’s a first look at the projects UNICEF and IMUNA have been working on together:

The Southern United States Model UN (SUSMUN) Conference in Atlanta, GA

“SUSMUN is held annually in Atlanta, GA in late October. This year, we hosted Betsy (Root), the Atlanta-based UNICEF Fellow, on the last day of our conference. She ran a TeachUNICEF session for our faculty and discussed global citizenship and the importance of global education. Our Faculty Advisors really enjoyed the presentation and are eager to incorporate elements of what they learned from the session into their own classrooms.”

The Regional High School Model UN (RHSMUN) Conference in San Francisco, CA

“RHSMUN seeks to bring together students from around the world in order to discuss pressing international issues. We have worked with UNICEF the past two years, at both our 2013 and 2014 conference. UNICEF’s presence has enhanced the conference experience we provide delegates, by showing students the real-life effects of aid organizations in the international community. In 2013, a UNICEF representative participated in our Speaker Series, and also organized a movie screening and discussion workshop for delegates. This past December, UNICEF ran a UNICEF 101 workshop for delegates, and a TeachUNICEF session for faculty advisors.

For the past two years, UNICEF has also been the beneficiary of our conference fundraising efforts, in which delegates donate money in their committees. Our partnership with UNICEF has elevated our conference programming, and delegates thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot about the organization through UNICEF’s participation in our conference. We hope to work with them for years to come!”

The National High School Model UN (NHSMUN) Conference in New York, NY

“We are incredibly excited to have the U.S. Fund for UNICEF at NHSMUN 2015 this coming March! This will be our first year partnering with UNICEF, we have a lot on the agenda. UNICEF representatives will be running a UNICEF 101 Workshop for our delegates as part of our Speaker Series on Thursday of the conference. Additionally, UNICEF will be giving a TeachUNICEF presentation as part of our Faculty Programming. We’re also happy to announce that UNICEF has been chosen as NHSMUN 2015’s Service Learning Project organization. Our conference will be fundraising for the UNICEF Tap Project, in recognition of World Water Month. We wholeheartedly believe that the events we’ve planned with UNICEF will provide an even more enriching experience for our delegates and faculty advisors, and we are eagerly looking forward to UNICEF’s presence at our conference!”
