Katrina Evacuees (2006)

In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina battered New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, leaving thousands of children displaced.  UNICEF responded immediately, sending over one thousand school-in-a-box and recreation kits to the region.  In doing this, UNICEF provided more than just the basic needs for those affected by the hurricane, such as food, shelter, and water. It provided children with the resources to play, be creative, learn, and grow, in the aftermath of this devastating natural disaster. (3 min 19 seconds)
