Since 1996, Lions Clubs International in the United States and abroad have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for UNICEF's School–in–a–Box program—giving children in emergency situations around the world the chance to continue their education and begin the process of recovering from trauma.

After Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2005, UNICEF and its partner agencies—including Lions Clubs International—delivered more than 2,000 kits to the region, helping 160,000 children. Destinations for the kits have included India, Papua New Guinea, cyclone–ravaged Myanmar and Pakistan.
