NEW YORK (May 24, 2010) — The U.S. Fund for UNICEF has been honored with eight Bulldog Awards which are awarded annually by leading industry voice, Bulldog Reporter to recognize excellence in media relations and publicity. The Bulldog Awards are the preeminent public relations awards selected exclusively by top journalists. The awards received showcase the organization’s ability to creatively and strategically develop and execute PR campaigns that garner extraordinary results.
Individual award recipients include Lisa Szarkowski and Marci Greenberg. Ms. Szarkowski is selected to receive a gold award in the publicist of the year category and a silver award in the non-profit PR professional of the year category. Ms. Greenberg is also selected to receive a silver award in the publicist of the year category.
Campaign awards include the UNICEF TAP project and 1 Pack = 1 Vaccine: Pampers Campaign to Benefit UNICEF. The UNICEF TAP project will receive a total of four silver awards honoring the best use of celebrity, PR innovation of the year, best non-profit campaign and best issue/cause advocacy campaign. The 1 Pack = 1 Vaccine: Pampers Campaign to Benefit UNICEF is selected to receive a bronze award in the best general consumer campaign category
The Bulldog Awards honored 122 campaigns and public relations professionals overall at gold, silver and bronze levels. Unlike most public-relations industry awards, the Bulldog Awards are judged exclusively by working journalists, including editors this year from The New York Times, The Washington Post and National Geographic Traveler.
Case studies of winning campaigns will be featured in 2010 Bulldog Awards Hall of Fame, a widely distributed and downloadable magazine. In addition, select awarded campaigns will also be chronicled in Bulldog Reporter’s Winning PR Campaigns e-newsletter and in Bulldog Reporter’s Daily 'Dog online trade journal.' The gold, silver and bronze winners in each category will be announced at the Bulldog Awards Celebration, Monday, June 28 at the Media Relations Summit in New York City.
About UNICEF
UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in over 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States.
UNICEF is at the forefront of efforts to reduce child mortality worldwide. There has been substantial progress—the annual number of under-five deaths dropped from 13 million in 1990 to 8.8 million in 2008. But still, 24,000 children die each day from preventable causes. Our mission is to do whatever it takes to make that number zero by giving children the essentials for a safe and healthy childhood. For more information, visit www.unicefusa.org.
