The NBA Supports UNICEF's Ongoing Work in Haiti
The NBA invites you to join in helping UNICEF provide lifesaving assistance to children in Haiti
On January 12 a massive earthquake rocked the Caribbean nation of Haiti, causing mass devastation. Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world and the poorest in the Western Hemisphere. With access to clean water and
sanitary conditions severely compromised even in the best of times—vulnerability to the spread of life-threatening waterborne diseases can skyrocket when a natural disaster strikes, as can difficulties in delivering much needed food, medical supplies and protection services.
In response the NBA is joining forces with UNICEF to provide ongoing assistance to children in Haiti. Despite heavy damages to its own offices in Port-au-Prince, UNICEF is ready to provide immediate support to the children and families affected by the earthquake. Children—the most vulnerable population in any disaster—as is too often the case, are most likely to suffer the consequences.
UNICEF has been working in Haiti since 1949 on developing longterm solutions to current problems caused by poverty and lack of basic health care, education and sanitation services.
UNICEF remains dedicated to providing lifesaving assistance to children affected by disasters, and to protecting their rights in any circumstances, no matter how difficult. In Haiti, UNICEF will stay on the ground providing supplies to allow access to adequate sanitation, safe water and basic health care.
Donate now to support UNICEF's ongoing work for the children of Haiti.
