5 years after the tsunami, Myanmar battles repeat disasters

UNICEF and its partners have supported a full range of activities to restore and transform young lives affected by the tsunami that struck South Asia in December 2004. And in Myanmar's remote Ngaputaw Township, daily life continues, despite the battle for life and livelihood.

UNICEF's education programs provide a lifeline to Colombia’s children

For over 40 years, Colombia has been a nation not only in the throes of conflict, but one consistently hit by natural disasters. Subjected to earthquakes, hurricanes, severe flooding and volcanic eruptions, the country’s infrastructure has deteriorated badly, allowing an illicit drug trade to flourish, violence to spread, and social inequities to persist.
